Nissan vans we cover
Send the registration and we'll check exactly which ignition your van carries before saying anything definite.
About Nissan ignitions
Nissan's van range is wide, and models like the Primastar, NV300 and NV400 are built jointly with other manufacturers. What ignition system a particular Nissan has depends heavily on model and year.
Cabstar and NT400 Cabstar chassis cabs often carry tipper, dropside or recovery bodies, but the ignition is still part of the base vehicle. Send the registration and symptoms and we'll talk through the options.
Ignition options for Nissan vans
- Mechanical ignition barrel repair or replacement — Suited to vans with a traditional turn-key ignition where the barrel has become worn, sticky, seized or physically damaged.
- Electrical ignition switch replacement — Covers the switch sitting behind the barrel, which can fail independently so the key turns but the electrics don't react properly.
- Electronic ignition (EIS) work — Applies to vans running an electronic ignition unit instead of a plain mechanical barrel, including certain push-button setups.
- Broken key extraction from the ignition — Getting a snapped blade safely out of the ignition first, without further damage, ahead of cutting a replacement key.
Hanging on to your existing key is often possible, depending on the van and what's failed. If a fresh key or reprogramming turns out to be necessary, you'll hear it from us first.

Nissan ignition questions
Can you help with a Cabstar fitted with a body conversion?
Yes. The ignition sits with the base Cabstar, so whatever body is fitted on top doesn't usually affect the ignition work.
The key has snapped off in my NV200's ignition — what now?
Leave the broken section where it is and don't try pulling it out with pliers, as that can damage the barrel further. We can extract it and sort a replacement key.
