What programming actually does
Most vans rely on a chip inside the key talking to the immobiliser. If the van doesn't recognise that chip, the engine either won't start or will cut out after starting. Remote locking is frequently programmed as a separate step.
We use diagnostic kit matched to the vehicle to introduce keys to the system. The specifics change depending on make, model, year and the key system fitted.
When you'd need this
- Straight after a new or replacement key has been cut
- If the van has stopped recognising a key it used to accept
- To remove a lost key from the van's memory, on systems that support it
- If a remote stopped locking or unlocking after a battery swap
What we need from you
Programming on site
This is carried out at the van itself. You, or someone with authority to be there, will need to bring every key you have, since several vans need all keys present together for programming to work properly. If a key was bought elsewhere, say so when you get in touch — not every aftermarket key will programme to every van.

Van Key Programming: common questions
Can you programme a key I ordered online?
Sometimes — but a fair few online keys turn out to be the wrong type or poorly made. Send us the key details alongside your van details first.
Do I need to bring every key I own?
On a lot of vans, yes. Programming can affect keys already in use, so have them all with you.
