Renault vans we cover
Send the registration and we'll check exactly which ignition your van carries before saying anything definite.
About Renault ignitions
Some Renault vans start with a keycard and a push button rather than a conventional turning key, while others use a standard ignition. That distinction changes the kind of work needed when a van won't start or the key won't turn.
If your Trafic or Master is flagging a card-not-detected message, or an older Kangoo key is jamming, describe exactly what's happening and we'll confirm what's involved for your van.
Ignition options for Renault vans
- Mechanical ignition barrel repair or replacement — Suited to vans with a traditional turn-key ignition where the barrel has become worn, sticky, seized or physically damaged.
- Electrical ignition switch replacement — Covers the switch sitting behind the barrel, which can fail independently so the key turns but the electrics don't react properly.
- Electronic ignition (EIS) work — Applies to vans running an electronic ignition unit instead of a plain mechanical barrel, including certain push-button setups.
- Broken key extraction from the ignition — Getting a snapped blade safely out of the ignition first, without further damage, ahead of cutting a replacement key.
Hanging on to your existing key is often possible, depending on the van and what's failed. If a fresh key or reprogramming turns out to be necessary, you'll hear it from us first.

Renault ignition questions
My Renault starts with a key card — does that count as an ignition fault?
It can do. Card-start vans use an electronic reader instead of a barrel, so the fault could sit with the card, the reader or elsewhere. We work out which before recommending anything.
Do the Trafic and Vivaro share ignition parts?
Some Trafic generations are built alongside other manufacturers' vans and can share components. We always confirm the exact vehicle from the registration rather than assume.
