What a lockout visit involves
The goal is getting into the van without causing damage, using an approach matched to that specific vehicle and lock. This changes by make, model and year, and by whether deadlocks or extra security locks are fitted.
Before you ring us
- Try every door — don't forget the side loading door and rear doors
- Check whether a colleague or anyone else holds a spare
- If a child, pet or the running engine is inside, call emergency services first
- Note any aftermarket security fitted, such as slam locks or hook locks
What we'll ask you for
- Registration, make, model and year
- Where the keys actually are — cab, load area or still in the ignition
- Any extra locks fitted to the van
- Exact location, in Southampton or nearby
- Proof that you own or are authorised to use the van
When it's more than just a lockout
Occasionally what looks like a simple lockout turns out to be a faulty lock or a key that's failed. If that's the case, we'll talk through the options — including a spare or replacement key — before doing anything further.
